Form I-485: only the 09/18/26 edition is accepted from September 18, 2026

USCIS published a revised green card application that matches the new public charge rule. The older 01/20/25 edition is rejected if filed on or after September 18, 2026.

USCIS announced a revised edition of Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, with the edition date 09/18/26. The revision aligns the form with the public charge final rule.

USCIS accepts the 01/20/25 edition only if it was postmarked or electronically submitted before September 18, 2026. On or after that date USCIS rejects the old edition and accepts only the 09/18/26 edition. There is no grace period.
