USCIS may reject or deny a filing later if it finds the signature is not valid
Under an interim final rule effective July 10, 2026, accepting a form does not settle the signature question. USCIS can reject or deny the request afterward.
The Department of Homeland Security amended its regulations on the submission of benefit requests. If USCIS accepts a request and later determines that it lacks a valid signature, USCIS may, in its discretion, reject or deny the request.
The rule took effect on July 10, 2026.
Everyone who signs and files a form with USCIS, and preparers who file on behalf of others.
