Russian affidavit translation, certified and in your words

A Russian statement is often a zayavlenie written in the first person, with the notary certifying the signature rather than the content. It is translated as written, with the certification block and any consular stamp, and a signed certificate of accuracy.

What is special about it

Russian affidavit, line by line: what the reviewer compares

Russian statements name people with patronymics, cite addresses and dates in day-first format and close with a notary's line that the signature was made in the notary's presence. Each element is translated so the reader understands what was certified.

Voice kept

Plain spoken Russian stays plain; formal phrases stay formal. Nothing is rewritten to sound more legal.

Patronymics for everyone

Every person mentioned is named with patronymic and spelled one way throughout, matched to passports you provide.

Signature certification

The notary's line about the signature, the register number and the fee are translated or described.

Dates and addresses

Dates are converted to the US format and addresses are transliterated so they can be matched to other documents.

Which version do you have

Notarized statement or plain signed letter, which one is yours

A Russian statement is either certified by a notary, who confirms the signature was made in their presence, or written and signed without one. Consular certification is a third route for those living abroad, and all are translated the same way.

Notarized statement

Notary certifies signature
  • Typed pages, often on a numbered notarial form, ending with the notary's line, seal, register number and fee
  • The declarant's name with patronymic and passport details, the statement in the first person, the signature and the notary's block
  • The full text, the certification line and the seal are translated; the file notes that the notary certified the signature, not the content
  • Asked for by courts and by offices that want a verified signer; also issued at Russian consulates with a consular block

Send every page including the notary's page; photograph the seal close up if it is faint.

Plain signed statement

Signed, not notarized
  • Typed or handwritten pages, signed and dated, sometimes with a copy of the passport attached
  • The statement itself, the declarant's full name, address, date and signature
  • The full text and the signature line are translated; an attached passport copy is translated as its own page if you send it
  • Asked for in USCIS filings where a relative or witness describes facts and no notary is required

Send every page in order; handwritten pages need a sharp, straight-on photo.

The whole document, not just the fields

Every line, including what was crossed out

Paragraphs and page breaks

The paragraphs and page breaks of the original are mirrored, so a reader can point to the same passage in both.

Corrections kept

Words crossed out or added between lines are translated and described, not silently cleaned up.

Attachments listed

Photos, letters or passport copies attached to the statement are listed, and each translated page says which attachment it belongs to.

Passport details of the declarant

The passport series, number and issuing office quoted in the statement are copied exactly, since that is how the notary identified the signer.

Where it is accepted

One translation, accepted where you need to file

The same certified file works for immigration, courts, universities and employers. Say who it is for when you order and the certificate is worded for that office.

USCIS

Green card, citizenship and asylum filings. Certification statement on every page set.

Immigration courts

Same certified translation, laid out page by page so the clerk can compare it with the original.

Universities and WES / ECE

Admissions offices and credential evaluators get the certified English file with the original attached.

Employers and licensing boards

HR departments get the translation with the certificate, ready to attach to an application.

Questions answered

Russian affidavit, the questions we hear most

The notary only certified my signature. Is the statement still valid?

That is the normal Russian form: the notary confirms who signed, not what was written. The translation states that clearly in the certification block.

Can you translate a statement signed at the Russian consulate?

Yes. The consular certification replaces the notary's and is translated in the same way.

My relative wrote it by hand. Any issue?

No. Handwritten pages are translated as written, unreadable words are marked, and we ask about unclear names first.

Will USCIS accept this translation?

It follows what USCIS asks for: the whole document in English plus a signed statement that the translator is competent and the translation is complete and accurate. Every order includes that statement, signed and dated by the translator.

How much does it cost and how fast is it?

From $23.70 per document, certification included. A two-page statement is usually ready in one to two business days; the date is confirmed before you pay.
