Modern attestats are hard-cover folders with an insert and a separate grade sheet; Soviet ones are single sheets with subjects listed on the back. The subjects, the marks and the school's full name are translated as printed.
Level named exactly
Basic general education (grade nine) and secondary general education (grade eleven) are translated as the certificate states them, not merged into high school diploma.
Five-point marks kept
Marks of 5, 4 and 3 are copied with their word forms, excellent, good and satisfactory, and the scale is stated once.
Medal and honors
A gold or silver medal or an attestat with distinction is translated in full.
Number, seal, director's signature
The attestat number, the seal of the school and the signature block are translated or described.
Folder with grade sheet or Soviet single sheet, both are translated in full
Modern Russian attestats come as a hard-cover folder with an insert and a separate grade sheet; Soviet attestats are a single sheet with the subjects on the back. The level, grade nine or eleven, is printed on both.
Modern attestat with grade sheet
Most common today- A hard-cover folder, red for distinction, with a printed insert carrying the Russian coat of arms and a number, plus a separate grade sheet
- The graduate's name with patronymic, the school's full name and town, the year, the level (basic general or secondary general education), the attestat number, and the subjects with final marks on the grade sheet
- The insert and the grade sheet in full: form text, level as printed, every subject and mark with the scale stated once, the seal and the director's signature
- Asked for by colleges, universities, WES and other evaluators, and by USCIS in some student and family cases
Send the insert open flat and the grade sheet on both sides as separate photos.
Soviet-era single sheet
Subjects on the back- A single sheet with the Soviet coat of arms and the name of the republic, entries handwritten or typed, subjects and marks listed on the back
- The graduate's name, the school, the year, the words for secondary education and the marks by subject, sometimes a gold or silver medal line
- Both sides in full, handwriting transcribed as written, the seal and signatures noted
- Asked for by evaluators and universities from applicants who finished school before 1992
Photograph both sides flat and in good light; faded ink must be readable to be transcribed.
Insert, grade sheet and seal, every line in English
Cover and insert together
The title on the cover, the coat of arms and the pre-printed wording of the insert are described, so the reader sees which form the school used.
Subjects word for word
Subject names are translated literally, including electives and regional subjects, so the list can be compared line by line with the original.
Year of completion and issue date
The year the course was completed and the date on the attestat are converted to the US format with the original kept.
Grade sheet tied to the attestat
The grade sheet is translated as its own page and carries the attestat number and the graduate's name, so the two pages cannot be mixed up with another file.

Price My DocumentRussian school certificate, the questions we hear most
Do US colleges accept this translation?
It is certified and literal, which is the format admissions offices and evaluators ask for. Any request for records sent by the school is separate.
My attestat is Soviet, with subjects on the back. Do you translate the back?
Yes. Everything printed or written on both sides is translated, including the row of marks and the school seal.
Do you convert marks to letter grades?
No. Marks stay on the five-point scale, and the scale is stated once for the reader.
Will USCIS accept this translation?
It follows what USCIS asks for: the whole document in English plus a signed statement that the translator is competent and the translation is complete and accurate. Every order includes that statement, signed and dated by the translator.
How much does it cost and how fast is it?
From $23.70 per document, certification included. A one-page document is usually ready the next business day; the date is confirmed before you pay.
