What is special about it

Ukrainian diploma, line by line: what the reviewer compares

Ukraine's degree system includes Junior Specialist, Bachelor, Specialist and Master, and the wording on the diploma tells the evaluator which one you hold. The translation keeps those terms and the program name exactly.

Degree titles as printed

Molodshyi spetsialist, bakalavr, spetsialist and mahistr are rendered as Junior Specialist, Bachelor, Specialist and Master, with the field of study named as on the diploma.

Bilingual diplomas since 2015

When the diploma already carries English text, we translate the Ukrainian side in full and check the printed English for gaps or differences, which happen.

Ukrainian spelling first

The graduate's name is transliterated from the Ukrainian text to match your passport, with a note if your earlier documents used a Russian-based spelling.

Series, number, seal, apostille

The series and number, the seal of the institution and, for education documents, the apostille from the Ministry of Education and Science are translated or described.

Which version do you have

Bilingual since 2015 or Ukrainian only, both need the full translation

Diplomas issued since 2015 print Ukrainian and English side by side; earlier ones are Ukrainian only, and Soviet-era ones are in Russian. Each is translated in full from its own text.

Bilingual diploma since 2015

Ukrainian and English text
  • A single sheet or a folder insert with the trident, two columns of text and a series and number
  • The graduate's name in both scripts, the institution, the degree (Bachelor, Master, Junior Specialist), the program and specialty, the date and the honors line
  • The Ukrainian column in full, with the printed English checked for gaps and differences, which are noted
  • Asked for by WES and other evaluators, universities, licensing boards and employers

Send the whole sheet straight and readable; the printed English does not replace the certified translation.

Ukrainian-only or Soviet-era diploma

Issued before 2015
  • A hard-cover folder with a printed insert in Ukrainian, or a Soviet blue diploma in Russian with the coat of arms of the Ukrainian SSR
  • The graduate's name, the institution, the years of study, the qualification and specialty, the board decision and the date
  • The whole insert: every field, the form text, the seal, the signatures and the honors line, with the source language stated
  • Asked for by the same evaluators and employers, often with the supplement

Send the insert open flat, both halves, plus the cover if anything is printed on it.

The whole document, not just the fields

The whole insert, not the printed English column

Board decision and protocol

The line recording the decision of the examination board, its date and protocol number is translated in full, because evaluators use it to date the award.

Rector and board chair

The signature block names the rector and the chair. Their names and titles are transliterated so the seal and signatures can be matched to the original.

Cover, trident and form text

The cover title, the pre-printed wording and the trident are described, so the English page identifies the same document.

Translator's notes in brackets

A term without a direct English equivalent, or the current name of a renamed institution, is given in a bracketed note marked as a translator's note.

Where it is accepted

One translation, accepted where you need to file

The same certified file works for immigration, courts, universities and employers. Say who it is for when you order and the certificate is worded for that office.

Universities and WES / ECE

Admissions offices and credential evaluators get the certified English file with the original attached.

Questions answered

Ukrainian diploma, the questions we hear most

Is this translation accepted by WES?

WES asks for a complete, literal, word-for-word translation prepared by a translation service, and that is the format we deliver. WES may also require documents sent directly by the institution; that step is separate from the translation.

My diploma is already in English. Do I need a translation?

The English on a bilingual diploma is a printed summary, and evaluators still often ask for a certified translation of the full document. We translate the Ukrainian side and note where the printed English differs.

Which ministry apostilles a Ukrainian diploma?

The Ministry of Education and Science, not the Ministry of Justice. If your diploma carries that apostille, it is translated with the diploma.

My Soviet-era diploma is in Russian. Is it still a Ukrainian document?

For translation purposes the source language is Russian and the layout is Soviet. The translation names the republic and institution exactly as printed.

How much does it cost and how fast is it?

From $23.70 per document, certification included. A one-page document is usually ready the next business day; the date is confirmed before you pay.
