Internal passport and ID card translation, certified for USCIS

The internal passport is where the address history, marital status and children of a citizen are recorded, and USCIS forms ask about all three. We translate the pages with entries, count only those, and sign the certificate of accuracy.

What matters in this document

The inside pages are the point

Unlike a travel passport, an internal document is rarely bilingual, and the important pages are the ones with stamps: registration at an address, marriage, divorce, children, military duty. Blank pages are noted and not charged.

Data page and photo page

Full name, date and place of birth, issuing authority and the document number are translated first, with the name spelled as in your foreign passport.

Registration stamps

Each residence registration stamp, with its address and date, is translated. This is the source for the address history USCIS asks about.

Marital status and children

Stamps about marriage and divorce and the entries about children are translated because they must agree with your certificates.

Nothing summarized

Handwritten notes, cancelled stamps and corrections are translated or described, not paraphrased.

Which version do you have

Booklet or plastic card, the pages differ, the purpose does not

Russia still issues the internal passport as a booklet; Ukraine has moved to a plastic card with a separate registration extract, while older booklets remain in use. Each is translated from what it carries.

Internal passport booklet

Stamps on every page
  • A small booklet in the national language with a photo page, numbered pages and stamps placed by the passport office and the registry
  • Name, date and place of birth, the issuing authority, registration and deregistration stamps with addresses, marriage and divorce stamps, children, military duty
  • The data page and every page with a stamp or an entry, labeled with its page number; blank pages listed as blank
  • Asked for by USCIS in adjustment of status and family petitions to check address and family history

Send every page including blank ones, open flat, as one set of photos.

Plastic ID card with registration extract

Card plus extract
  • A credit-card-size card with a photo, a chip and text on both sides; the address lives in a separate printed extract or in the chip
  • Name in the national language and in Latin letters, date of birth, document number, record number, issuing authority and expiry; the extract adds the registered address and date
  • Both sides of the card as one page and the extract as another, with every field label translated
  • Asked for in the same cases; USCIS reads the extract for address history because the card face has none

Send both sides of the card and every page of the extract; if you only have the card in a phone app, tell us and we advise what to send.

The whole document, not just the fields

Every stamp with its address, every page with its number

Addresses, transliterated

Street, building and apartment in each registration stamp are transliterated, not translated, so they can be matched letter for letter to the address history on your forms.

Deregistration stamps too

A stamp that removes you from an address is as important as the one that registers you. Both are translated with their dates, so the address history has no gaps.

Authority codes and abbreviations

The passport office code, the abbreviations of the issuing unit and the military office are spelled out and translated, not copied as letters the reviewer cannot read.

Cancelled stamps and corrections

A stamp crossed out by the office or a corrected entry is translated and marked as cancelled or corrected, so the page reads as the original does.

Where it is accepted

One translation, accepted where you need to file

The same certified file works for immigration, courts, universities and employers. Say who it is for when you order and the certificate is worded for that office.

USCIS

Green card, citizenship and asylum filings. Certification statement on every page set.

Immigration courts

Same certified translation, laid out page by page so the clerk can compare it with the original.

Universities and WES / ECE

Admissions offices and credential evaluators get the certified English file with the original attached.

Employers and licensing boards

HR departments get the translation with the certificate, ready to attach to an application.

Questions answered

Internal passport and ID card, the questions we hear most

Which pages do I need to send?

All of them, including blank pages, as one set of photos. We translate the pages with entries and list the blank ones, so the file is complete.

Why does USCIS want my internal passport?

It is the document that shows where you were registered and when, plus marriages and children. Officers use it to check the address and family history on your forms.

Do you translate the plastic ID card?

Yes. The card itself is one page with both sides, and the separate registration extract, when you have it, is another.

How is my name spelled?

As in your foreign passport, so the internal document and your travel document read as the same person. Tell us the spelling when you order.

How much does it cost and how fast is it?

From $23.70 per document, certification included. Blank pages are not counted, the exact price is shown right after upload, before you pay, and the delivery date is confirmed at the same time.
