Police clearance certificate translation, certified for USCIS

A certificate of no criminal record is asked for in green card, adjustment and consular cases, and it goes stale quickly. It is translated in full, including the apostille and the electronic signature block, with a signed certificate of accuracy.

What matters in this document

Exact wording, exact dates

The certificate states whether a record exists, lists every name you have used and the period checked, and often carries an electronic signature or a QR code. Each element is translated as printed.

The finding, word for word

The line stating that no record exists, or describing a record, is translated exactly as written. Nothing is softened or summarized.

All names listed

Certificates list previous surnames and the dates they were used. Each is transliterated and matched to your other documents.

Issue date and the clock

The issue date is what an office checks against its validity rule, and it is converted to the US format and kept visible.

Apostille and e-signature

The apostille page, the electronic signature note and any QR-code verification text are translated or described.

Which version do you have

Paper certificate or electronic file, both translated in full

Police clearance certificates come in two forms: a paper certificate with a wet stamp, or a PDF signed electronically through a government portal. The scope of the translation is the same for both.

Paper certificate with a wet stamp

Issued at a counter
  • One or two pages with a wet stamp and a signature, sometimes with an apostille attached
  • Your full name, date of birth, the period and regions checked, and the finding
  • Every line, the stamp text, the signature block and the apostille are translated
  • Asked for by consulates, foreign employers and licensing boards that want a stamped original

Send clear photos or scans of the front, the back and the apostille page if there is one.

Electronic certificate (signed PDF)

Most common today
  • A PDF from a government portal with an electronic signature block and a QR code
  • The same finding and personal data, plus the signing officer's details and signature validity dates
  • Text, signature block and verification note are translated; the file states the original is electronic
  • Used in USCIS filings and by employers who accept electronic originals

Send the original PDF file, not a screenshot, so the signature block and QR code stay readable.

The whole document, not just the fields

Everything on the page, including the small print

Header, footer and form number

The issuing office header, the form number in the corner and the footer notes are translated in place, so the reader can match the original line by line.

Handwritten additions

A handwritten date, a case number or an officer's remark in the margin is translated and marked as handwritten.

Spelling matched to your passport

Your name is spelled exactly as in the passport you file with, and the same spelling is carried into every other document we translate for you.

All ten apostille fields

The apostille's numbered fields, the issuing authority, the certificate number and the seal are translated as a table that matches the original layout.

Where it is accepted

One translation, accepted where you need to file

The same certified file works for immigration, courts, universities and employers. Say who it is for when you order and the certificate is worded for that office.

USCIS

Green card, citizenship and asylum filings. Certification statement on every page set.

Immigration courts

Same certified translation, laid out page by page so the clerk can compare it with the original.

Universities and WES / ECE

Admissions offices and credential evaluators get the certified English file with the original attached.

Employers and licensing boards

HR departments get the translation with the certificate, ready to attach to an application.

Questions answered

Police clearance translation, the questions we hear most

How long is the certificate valid?

The certificate itself usually has no expiry date; each office applies its own rule, often measured in months from the issue date. Check the rule of the office you are filing with before ordering the certificate.

Do I need an apostille?

USCIS does not ask for one; consular processing through a US embassy often does. If you have an apostille, it is translated with the certificate.

My certificate is an electronic PDF with a digital signature. Can you translate it?

Yes. The digital signature block and the verification text are translated, and the file notes that the original is electronic.

The certificate lists my maiden name. Does that matter?

It helps: it shows the check covered every name you have used. All names are transliterated to match your other documents.

How much does it cost and how fast is it?

From $23.70 per document, certification included. A one-page document is usually ready the next business day; the date is confirmed before you pay.
